The Canon battery costs more and has less storage capacity. When purchasing batteries, be sure to look at the storage capacity of the batteries in question. I haven't had any issues with it all and find it very convenient to not only have double battery life, but also be able to take a picture vertically without looking like an idiot trying to find the button.
